Due to the spread of the virus mutant Omikron, ITB Berlin 2022 cannot take place as a face-to-face fair as planned. The congress will thus be held again in digital form.
The world's largest travel fair, which should take place from March 9th to 13th, 2022, has to be canceled due to the spread of the virus mutant Omikron. The trade fair as a face-to-face event has been canceled; the digital alternative will, as last year, take place on all three days. ITB Berlin is set to return as a physical event in March 2023.
“It is with great regret that we unfortunately have to inform you today that the ITB Berlin 2022 with its face-to-face part cannot take place as planned. Due to the latest developments and accompanying regulations in the course of the corona pandemic, we cannot offer you the planning security you need to hold the ITB Berlin attendance days at the beginning of March. The current pandemic situation and the tighter travel restrictions associated with it, as well as the limitation of the number of participants at major events, prompted us to take this step, ”said the ITB.
Just a few weeks ago, people were convinced that the ITB could be held in Berlin - with the strict access restrictions imposed by the Berlin Senate. In view of the meanwhile high incidence rates, the threat posed by the new Omikron variant and the increasingly strict entry requirements in many countries, the organizers have now decided to cancel the fair.
