For the second time in just a few months, Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is raising its forecast for passenger numbers in the 2022 financial year. Initially, those responsible assumed 200.000 users, but this was increased to 300.000 in May. After a very successful summer, the home port is now even assuming 400.000 passengers.
"At the beginning of 2022, we were convinced that we could easily exceed the previous year's figure of 129.292 passengers. However, the figures already achieved and now to be expected for the year as a whole exceed our wildest expectations,” says managing director Roland Hüser happily. The desire to travel of the people in East Westphalia, Lippe and South Westphalia made a significant contribution to the significant overachievement of their own goals.
In the summer holidays alone, 115.839 vacationers used the domestic airport, which means a return to the pre-corona level in the tourism sector. The home port is also experiencing a noticeable upswing in the area of individual business trips. The number of flight movements in this central segment in the first half of 2022 rose to 1.361 - and thus by 48 percent compared to the previous year and by 23 percent compared to the pre-Corona year 2019. "We want to continue to map the needs of the region in the future and, on this basis, continuously develop further potential," says Hüser, confirming the ambitious goal of increasing the number of passengers to 2025 by 800.000.
“The development of our airport is extremely pleasing. The current figures and forecasts impressively show that it was absolutely right to stick to this central transport infrastructure for our entire region. Our thanks go to the management and all employees who have made this success possible with their extraordinary commitment," emphasizes District Administrator Christoph Rüther as Chairman of the Supervisory Board on behalf of all shareholders.
