The Nuremberg-based aviation company Franconia Air Service GmbH is setting up scheduled flights between Mönchengladbach and Nuremberg. Other routes from the Bavarian airport lead to Bremen and Hamburg.

Franconia uses the small aircraft Diamond DA 42 (for three passengers) and DA 62 (for six passengers) to commute between Mönchengladbach Airport (MGL) and Nuremberg Airport (NUE) three times a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays). The aviation company is thus taking up a business case in advance that future air taxis will also serve - as capacity and range are comparable. The target group is primarily business travelers in metropolitan areas where road and rail are already heavily frequented. Dr. Ulrich Schückhaus, Managing Director MGL: “Connectivity and flexibility are crucial for productivity and economic power in Mönchengladbach and the Lower Rhine.”

“Mönchengladbach is the ideal destination for the new flight connection due to the infrastructure, the innovative orientation and the catchment area,” said the managing director of Franconia Air Service GmbH, Thomas Müller.
