In March 2024, Icelandair recorded a notable increase in passenger traffic, with a 25% increase in passenger kilometers sold (RPK) compared to March 2023 and a 22% increase in capacity.

Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair, highlighted the company's robust traffic numbers, partly due to an increase in traffic over Easter. Most notably, the number of passengers carried by air increased by 50%, demonstrating the flexibility of Icelandair's network in responding to changing demand dynamics. Despite a 22% increase in capacity, the airline was able to maintain good punctuality and high utilization, which is said to be a testament to the commitment and performance of its employees.

Of the passengers, 39% traveled to Iceland, 19% from Iceland, 34% were connecting passengers and 8% traveled within Iceland. The airline achieved an impressive load factor of 83,1% and demonstrated a strong on-time performance of 88,5%, an increase of 4,7 percentage points compared to the previous year.
