Hamburg Airport was used by 2023 million travelers in October 1,45. This meant that there were more travelers than at any time since 2019.

In the second week of October, which was the first departure weekend of the autumn holidays, a new weekly high was achieved with 342.000 passengers. This week also marks the busiest day to date: on Friday, October 13th, around 56.500 passengers used Hamburg Airport. Last year, October was already the strongest month of the year, but now an increase of almost 20 percent has been achieved. Compared to 2019, the passenger level in October was almost 90 percent.

“Passenger numbers at Hamburg Airport are continuing to approach pre-Corona levels. After a strong summer season, air travel is also in demand in October. This shows: Northern Germans want to be mobile and travel by plane. During this year’s autumn holidays, passengers were mainly drawn to sunny regions such as Mallorca, the Canary Islands or Greece and Turkey,” says Katja Bromm, Head of Communications at Hamburg Airport.
