Onset of winter: Innsbruck had to temporarily restrict flight operations

Exceptionally heavy snowfall, which also brought poor visibility, meant that flight operations at Innsbruck Airport had to be temporarily restricted on Saturday, January 2nd, 2023.

Although the airport's experienced winter service fleet has been in full operation since the night hours, it was initially not possible on Saturday morning to sufficiently clear the amount of wet snow from the runway and taxiways and thus ensure safe flight operations. This resulted in three flights having to be canceled by midday.
