UFO clearly against restricting the right to strike

The flight attendant union UFO is reacting to the latest demands from politics and business that the right to strike in the transport sector should be restricted. The employee representatives clearly reject this.

Joachim Vázquez Bürger, chairman of the UFO, said: “We are conducting a dangerous pseudo-debate in Germany about supposedly necessary restrictions on the right to strike. The unbridled forces of the free market economy are driving the spiral of unfair distribution of wealth ever faster. Monetary elites always benefit, whether in boom times or economic crises. The rich are getting richer. The little people pay the bill. The value of work is falling rapidly. The so-called 'skilled worker shortage' in Germany is an expression of wages that are too low for increasingly stressful working conditions and at the same time the cost of living is skyrocketing. This can only be countered by increasing wages. The unrestricted right to strike is the only effective lever to enforce decent wages for decent work if negotiations do not lead to results.”
