Budapest Airport picked up major awards at the Routes Europe 2024 Awards in Aarhus this week. Not only did he secure the prestigious title of “Overall Winner”, but he also triumphed in the “5-20 Million Passengers” category.

The Hungarian Gateway's achievements and commitment to route development last year stood out among other outstanding winners recognized in their own categories at the event. With innovative strategies, collaborative efforts and the pursuit of excellence, Budapest was celebrated for excellence in airport and destination marketing and highlighted the importance of partnerships in sustainable route development.

Commenting on the awards, Balázs Bogáts, CCO of Budapest Airport, said: “Together we have created a place of connectivity, efficiency and passenger satisfaction. We push boundaries, explore new horizons and deliver impactful marketing. This award reflects our unwavering commitment to achieve excellence and continue the path of innovation. My deepest thanks go to our exceptional team, our airline partners and everyone who contributes to our success!”

Budapest welcomed 2023 million passengers in 14,7, a robust 91% return to pre-pandemic levels. The airport experienced a significant expansion of non-stop seating capacity by over 30% to key global markets outside of Europe, including China, the Middle East and North Africa, and notably became the EU's eighth ranked European airport for non-stop seating capacity from South Korea.
