Between 16 and 20 January 2023, the Austrian Armed Forces increased airspace control due to the World Economic Forum held in Davos (Switzerland). A restricted flight area has been set up over parts of Vorarlberg and Tyrol.

More than 1.000 soldiers and 20 aircraft, eleven fixed-wing aircraft and nine helicopters ensured the safety of the event. Tasks included surveillance patrol flights, flights to identify airspace violations, and transport flights. The pilots logged 119 flight hours in 202 missions.

Due to the geographical location of Davos near the border with Austria, Switzerland requested in advance that Austrian airspace be secured by the Austrian air force for the duration of the World Economic Forum.

“I would like to thank all deployed soldiers and civil servants for their excellent work as part of 'Dädalus23'. The very professional cooperation with our Swiss and German neighbors testifies to the high level of performance and competence of all participants," said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner.
