In the future, Hamburg and Rotterdam want to be connected with each other with hydrogen-powered aircraft. A corresponding declaration of intent was signed last week.

They also want to work closely together in the development of alternative aircraft engines. The cooperation includes, among other things, the areas of training, sustainability and digitization. Behind the letter of intent are Hamburg Airport, the Hamburg Aviation cluster network, Rotterdam Airport and the Rotterdam The Hague Innovation Airport Foundation. The current aim is for the first hydrogen aircraft to take off around 2026.
