AUA strike: Industrial association accuses “utopia”.

Not surprisingly, the industrial association also spoke out with sharp criticism of the employee representatives regarding the strike by the flying staff of Austrian Airlines.

“The developments in the last few days on the part of the union surrounding the collective bargaining negotiations at the Austrian airline Austrian Airlines (AUA) have reached a worrying point. After 17 rounds of negotiations and multiple adjustments to the offer, which is now well above rolling inflation, the union is insisting on utopian and completely unrealistic demands. In addition to the constant strike threats, it is above all the tone of the employee representatives that indicates a low willingness to compromise on the part of the employee negotiators. This would endanger the future and the existence of the Austrian flagship in air transport. The AUA has proven in recent years that it is possible to successfully run an Austrian airline despite the crises. Now that taxpayers' support has been paid off early and the signs are now pointing to success, investments could now be made in the future that would strengthen Austria as a location. Instead, the union's unrealistic demands threaten the company's existence. This means that over 50.000 passengers will not be able to travel to their families or on their planned vacation over the Easter holidays. “The union is putting a bad egg in the Easter basket of many Austrians,” said the IV. The industrial association therefore appeals to the reason and rationality of the employees. It is simply absurd to stubbornly stick to the demands in professional negotiations,” says the IV.
