An airport festival will take place at Leipzig/Halle Airport on June 10th and 11th, 2023. Among other things, an airplane show, sightseeing flights, airport tours and numerous hands-on activities are offered.
The festival takes place on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. For the journey, the use of public transport and Deutsche Bahn is recommended. Admission is free. On both days, guests can find out about a wide variety of airport technology. Are issued e.g. B. Equipment and vehicles of the airport fire brigade, the winter service and also special equipment for aircraft handling.
Exclusive to the airport festival, visitors also have the opportunity to experience an aircraft show. Depending on the type of aircraft, the cockpit, the cabin or the cargo hold can be inspected. Among other things, an Airbus A300 and A310, an Antonov 124 and other cargo and sports aircraft can be seen.
It is also possible to visit the historic and restored IL-18 aircraft. The machine was put into service in 1960 and was the first of this type to be used by what was then Lufthansa Ost. The price per adult is 2 euros. Children under 1,20 meters are free of charge.
