Valencia introduces tourist tax

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A tourist tax will be introduced in the Spanish region of Valencia: The tax is expected to be payable from the end of 2023.

Holidaymakers in Valencia will probably have to pay a tourist tax from the end of the current year. An exact launch date is not yet known. This will be due for all people who want to stay overnight in the Spanish Mediterranean region, as Check24 reports. The costs would vary depending on the chosen accommodation. For example, a higher price is to be paid for high-class hotels than for rental accommodation. The price range is therefore between 50 cents and a maximum of two euros per night and person. On the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca, the overnight stay tax has been due since 2016.

There is an exception for certain groups of people: for example, children under the age of 16 do not have to pay. Also not included are travelers who are in the region for health reasons. Refugees who are in Valencia due to a war or similar conflict are also exempt from the fee.
