Video competition: hoteliers' association is looking for young talents

The "Generation Smartphone" - always online and yet so difficult to reach. "She is active on completely different platforms than us adults and communicates there in a different way," says the Secretary General of the Austrian Hotel Association, Markus Gratzer, summing up the challenge for companies that want to appeal to young people.

For the ÖHV, young people bridge the communication gap between the generations on one of the most used social media channels, in youth language and young imagery. Visual language, because Instagram is the chosen campaign channel: According to the Internet Youth Monitor 2023, three out of four young people use the app, 71% of them daily. “We pick up the boys where they are often and like to be. There, micro-influencers and multipliers from their midst show them at eye level what makes the internship so cool,” Gratzer describes the idea behind the campaign.

Tourism students and fun in the internship, working atmosphere and colleagues, first experiences and future plans should be captured on film: "We want to show the world with you what work in tourism can do: let's put the best interns and internship companies in the limelight," says Gratzer, looking forward to the inspiring videos. The ÖHV rewards this with an iPhone 14, 2 nights for 2 in one of the 10 Explorer Hotels, JBL flip boxes and earbuds. Those who post their video on Instagram by August 31 and tag the ÖHV and internship company will receive the prizes.
