From February 2023, Austrian Airlines will fly for the first time with Boeing 777-200ER, whose seating capacity has been increased to 330 seats. According to the current plans, the first use is to take place on the Vienna-Male route.
Austrian Airlines recently announced that it is increasing the capacity of its Boeing 777-200ER will be increased to 330 seats. The offer in the premium economy class is being expanded. At the same time, you will be ranked among those operators who offer the most seats in this type of machine. United Airlines, for example, operates on domestic flights and British Airways on leisure routes with comparably high capacity.
The conversion of the cabins of the B777-200ER fleet of Austrian Airlines is taking place gradually. Therefore, the machines with increased capacity are then gradually put back into scheduled service. According to the airline, it will be from February 2023, because from this calendar month the first long-haul aircraft with 330 seats will fly regularly on the AUA routes.
Austrian Airlines confirmed to Aviation.Direct that as things stand at present it is planned that the Boeing 777-200ER will be used with increased capacity on the Vienna-Male route from February 8, 2023. A day later, the first use on the Bangkok route should take place. It goes to Cancun from February 12, 2023, to Mauritius from February 23, 2023 and to Shanghai from February 24, 2023.
Then there is a kind of "short breather", because only on March 27, 2023 will the "330-seat first deployment" continue. Then follows the Vienna-New York (Newark) route. From April 2, 2023, Chicago (O'Hare) will be served with more capacity for the first time, from May 2, 2023 it will be served to Tokyo (Narita) and on May 18, 2023 Los Angeles will follow.
The stated dates for the first deployment have been confirmed by Austrian Airlines and relate to the current status of planning. This means that these are subject to change. In the initial phase, not all weekly frequencies will be served by Boeing 777-200ERs, which have 330 seats.
