Chatbots have been on the rise in aviation for several years, but they are not really popular with passengers because they are only in rare cases able to actually solve travelers' concerns. Now Eurowings Holidays also wants to sell package holidays with a bot.
For some providers, phone numbers and email addresses are difficult to find. Often you first have to “overcome” a chat bot in order to get the contact details or an employee in the chat. Some consumer advocates don't see these chat bots as customer service, but rather as harassment.
Based on the artificial intelligence of Chat-GPT, Eurowings Holidays is launching a bot with a cooperation partner that can also be used to book package holidays. From Eurowings’ perspective, it is an “AI-supported travel advisor” and is said to be the first of its kind on the German market.
With the help of Chat-GPT's technology, trips are to be arranged that are supposedly "tailored" to the needs of the passengers. “The more the digital travel advisor learns about his customers’ wishes, the lower the risk of being disappointed on their vacation. The technology finds exactly the travel package that best suits the preferences entered. For example, the AI travel advisor from Eurowings Holidays also includes hotel reviews and immediately checks suitable adventure trips or rental car offers for vacancies,” reads a press release. The AI travel advisor “Holly” was developed by the Hamburg startup Honeepot. “The technology used ensures that customer data is completely protected and is never passed on,” emphasizes Honepot CEO Torsten Ostmeier.
“We know that many travelers find the search for the right holiday destination complex and time-consuming. With the digital travel advisor from Eurowings Holidays, the often arduous path to the perfect vacation takes a shortcut and is radically simplified. Learning AI software recognizes patterns and personal preferences for the benefit of our customers. In this way, Eurowings Holidays increases the quality of the tourist offers and also makes them significantly more individual. We are pleased that we are taking a pioneering role with these new generation travel offers,” said Eurowings Managing Director Jens Bischof.
