From April 1, 2024, coaches will again operate on behalf of Lufthansa between Innsbruck and Munich. The Kranich Group wants to use these to connect the Tyrolean capital to the Munich hub. The Frankfurt flights are discontinued.

The Italian regional airline Skyalps sided with Lufthansa repeatedly as a possible interlining partner. Innsbruck Airport also publicly spoke out in favor of cooperation between the two carriers. But nothing will come of this because Skyalps does not have an IOSA safety audit, which is the absolute minimum requirement for cooperation with the Lufthansa Group.

According to reports, the South Tyrolean aviation company is said to have campaigned for interlining cooperation. For passengers, this would have meant that only two tickets could be bundled together at the full fare. Competitively priced tickets would only have been possible through a codeshare and/or blocked space agreement. However, due to the lack of an IOSA safety audit, the discussions are said not to have gotten that far. Another reason why we haven't heard anything about possible Frankfurt flights in Innsbruck, Friedrichshafen and Linz for a while is that the carrier is supposed to demand a guaranteed minimum purchase of tickets. In Upper Austria, the frequencies to Düsseldorf have even been reduced in the 2024 summer flight schedule.

In Innsbruck, Lufthansa has decided to... yet again starts a journey by bus. This has been tried repeatedly in the past, but “bus trips with a Lufthansa flight number” were only very poorly received by the market. Business travelers in particular have mostly switched to cars and used them to travel to Munich, for example. The bus was also considered unpopular with private travelers.

However, Lufthansa will not let this deter us and will start a bus connection between Innsbruck and Munich airports again on April 1, 2024. The courses have Lufthansa flight numbers and can only be booked through them. These are “feeder” or “onward flights” that are carried out on the road. According to Lufthansa, 40 seats will be offered per direction and trip. Similarly, the former inner-German flight connection Nuremberg-Stuttgart has been operated by road for several years.

The buses run on Monday to Sunday according to the following timetable:

It's unbelievable how much energy is invested in pointless actions. Started two attempts, drove with 2 to 3 people, stopped again after two weeks. Haphazardly on the wall...
