The Carinthian Chamber of Commerce is obviously not satisfied with the fact that the state government has rejected the application by State Councilor Martin Gruber (ÖVP) to buy back Klagenfurt Airport. The decision is taken note of, according to a media release.
Just recently, WK President and KBV Supervisory Board member Jürgen Mandl spoke unequivocally for pulling the call option out. After more than 14 hours of deliberation, the state government decided by majority that this is not pulled. The Supervisory Board resolution of the KBV has been more or less undone.
"The state government, which is now responsible for the further fate of the airport, would be well advised to convince the new owner that the economy in Carinthia does not need colorful illustrated books, but rather active flight connections to the important traffic hubs in Europe. The investor has owed this for years, while airports in the vicinity have massively expanded their position,” demands Mandl.
