Linz-Hörsching Airport should also be accessible by rail in the future. A train station will be built near the airport. The project is not entirely new, as it has been discussed for more than 20 years. ÖBB has now officially confirmed that construction will start in 2024.

Linz Airport is currently connected to the city center and the surrounding villages and towns by bus routes. In the future, trains will also stop, although the train station will not be located directly at the terminal. The project is part of the four-track expansion of the Western Railway line.

In the Pasching-Hörsching zone, the planned route has been modified so that it comes very close to the airport. The new stop is intended to serve both Linz Airport and a commercial area, thereby improving public connections.

It is still unclear which train categories will use the new station, which is to be built starting next year. What is certain is that local trains will stop. It is completely unclear whether Railjets or Westbahn trains will also stop. There is no information regarding this yet.
