The Nuremberg Airport fire department was on duty outside the area on New Year's Eve 2023/24. At the request of the Nuremberg control center, the airport ambulance responded to ten alarms on New Year's Eve.

The men and women of the airport fire brigade are usually on hand if an aircraft accident occurs, but they also ensure fire protection in the terminal, provide initial medical care at the airport and sometimes free trapped people from elevators. As good neighbors, the airport firefighters also go on missions in neighboring districts.

The rescue vehicle RTW 79/1 supported the public rescue service as it no longer had any free capacity due to a large number of missions. Airport staff were called upon to respond to classic emergencies such as hand injuries caused by fireworks. The RTW helped in the area surrounding the airport from Buchenbühl to Schoppershof, but also went to Gostenhof and St. Lorenz.

In the previous weeks there had also been increased use of the airport ambulance. The supra-local help is regulated in the Bavarian Fire Brigade Act. The airport does not charge anything for this - it is a service for the people in the neighborhood and region.
