Until recently, it was unclear whether the South Tyrolean regional airline would continue the non-stop Düsseldorf-Linz connection in the 2024 summer flight schedule or not. In Upper Austria it was hoped that a machine could be stationed and the route increased. Neither is coming for the time being, but the route remains.

Skyalps took its time to activate the 2024 summer flight schedule on the Düsseldorf-Linz route. This route is currently served by de Havilland Dash 8-400 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. From April 2024 there will only be two weekly round trips on this route. Skyalps will operate this route on Tuesdays and Thursdays in summer 2024. This leads to a reduction in supply.

On Tuesdays, flight BQ1981 will take off from Linz at around 13:50 p.m. and will reach the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia at 15:30 p.m. On Thursdays, this flight number will take off from Upper Austria at 17:50 p.m. and reach Düsseldorf around 19:30 p.m.

The de Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft is stationed in Bolzano and flies between the return flight to South Tyrol to Linz and back to Düsseldorf. On Tuesdays, BQ1980 will leave North Rhine-Westphalia at 11:30 a.m. to Linz, where it will land at around 13:05 p.m. On Thursdays you take off from Düsseldorf at 15:30 p.m. and reach Upper Austria around 17:05 p.m.

Lufthansa has also removed Frankfurt flights from sale for winter 2024/2025

In recent weeks, Friedrichshafen, Innsbruck and Linz airports have repeatedly publicly spoken out in favor of a collaboration between Skyalps and Lufthansa in order to be able to compensate for the upcoming discontinuation of the Frankfurt hub connection. There are currently no agreements between the two carriers. Skyalps had no success with Austrian Airlines because a wet lease contract, for which company boss Josef Gostner had already publicly advocated, was awarded to Braathens Regional Airways.

So far there is no news about theoretically possible Skyalps flights from Linz, Innsbruck and Friedrichshafen other than advocacy from the affected airports. According to reports, the South Tyrolean airline is aiming for an interline agreement with Lufthansa, but this would at best be suboptimal for passengers. The crane itself does not want to comment further on the topic at the moment. Linz-Frankfurt and Friedrichshafen-Frankfurt are no longer being sold by Lufthansa for the 2024/25 winter flight schedule.
