The fronts remain hardened between the pilots' union Cockpit Association and the Discover Airlines management. Now the employee representatives are calling on their members to go on a two-day strike.

According to the VC's announcement, the pilots should stop working between Sunday, February 4, 2024 (0:01 a.m.) and Monday, February 5, 2024 (23:59 p.m.). It is expected that the industrial action will have a significant impact on Discover Airlines' flight operations. The Cockpit association justifies the strike as follows: “This strike is initiated in response to the continued refusal of the management of EW Discover GmbH to accept standard market collective agreements.”

At the same time, the pilots' union emphasizes that the decision to call another strike was not taken lightly, "but as a last resort given the lack of progress in the negotiations. The pilots are hoping for a rethink from the management of EW Discover GmbH.” Marcel Gröls, VC chairman of collective bargaining policy: “Even after two days of strike, there is still no negotiable offer from Discover’s management. This leads to an unnecessary escalation on the part of the employer and shows its lack of serious willingness to reach an agreement.”

Discover Airlines passengers must expect significant restrictions on Sunday and Monday. There may be cancellations and longer delays. Those affected should therefore regularly inquire about the current status of their booking from the airline and, if necessary, insist on alternative transport options.
