In the 2024 summer flight schedule, Austrian Airlines will operate some long-haul routes less frequently, at least temporarily. According to the company, the reason for this is that crew training is being carried out due to the planned fleet expansion.
The route between Vienna and Chicago (O'Hare) will be reduced to six weekly flights as of July 3, 2024. Los Angeles will be served four times a week between May 1 and June 13, 2024 and six times a week between June 15 and October 13, 2024.
Montreal will be reduced to six rotations per week starting July 4, 2024. The smaller Boeing 31-2024ER will be used on the Newark route between March 30, 2024 and June 767, 300 instead of the usual Boeing 777-200. On the New York-JFK route, Boeing 2024s will be flown from the start of the 14 summer flight schedule until June 2024, 777. As of June 15, 2024, the service will switch back to the B767-300ER and be reduced to six rotations per week.
The route will initially go to Shanghai twice a week between March 31 and May 1, 2024. The plan is to fly four times a week until June 15, 2024. From June 14, 2024, six rounds per week are planned. Tokyo Narita will scale back to three rotations weekly between April 30 and May 30, 2024. From June 1st to June 14th, 2024, four circuits per week will be offered.
