The Spanish low-cost airline Volotea carried out several first flights from Hamburg on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. There are now flights to Bordeaux, Lyon and Florence. At Hamburg Airport, Volotea is implementing its largest offering with three of a total of nine Germany routes.

The low-cost airline has been present in the Free and Hanseatic City for a long time, but flights from the Airbus factory airport to Toulouse are not publicly available. These are factory shuttle flights that are carried out exclusively for the European aircraft manufacturer.

The situation is completely different with the new admissions, which are not carried out at the company airport, but from the public airport. “We want the metropolitan city of Hamburg to be well connected throughout Europe. In addition to the most important capital cities, we also focus on other regions to ensure the best possible connection. “I am all the more pleased that today we can welcome Volotea, a new airline that is bringing three new direct destinations back to the Hamburg route network,” says Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. “The fact that an airline is positioning itself so broadly at a new location is unusual in these times. With three of a total of nine Germany routes, Volotea is implementing its largest offer at Hamburg Airport. This shows a high level of trust in us as an airport and speaks for Hamburg’s attractiveness as a travel destination, both for holiday and business travelers.”

In 2023, the Spanish airline Volotea will expand to Germany. In addition to Hamburg, it has also started flight operations at Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Berlin airports. Tickets for Volotea flights can be booked either directly with the airline at book.volotea.com, at a travel agency or through its sales partner Eurowings. Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft are used from Hamburg.

“We are very pleased to continue our strategic expansion in Europe, especially in a market as dynamic and thriving as Germany. Our partnership with Hamburg Airport is clear evidence of our commitment to providing travelers from the region with better connectivity and greater convenience. We are proud to make an active contribution to Hamburg's vibrant travel landscape and we greatly appreciate the support and trust that Hamburg Airport has placed in us. Opening new horizons for travelers, we offer direct flights to experience the rich culture and beauty of France and Italy at unbeatable prices. We look forward to making every trip an unforgettable experience and expanding our range of travel destinations for the residents of the Hanseatic city in the future,” adds Valeria Rebasti, International Market Director at Volotea.
