In a few days, the 2024 summer flight schedule will also begin at Zurich-Kloten, Switzerland's largest airport. 200 destinations will be offered, served by 62 airlines operating locally.

In a direct comparison with the same period last year, there are nine additional destinations in the 2024 summer flight schedule that can be reached non-stop or as part of so-called direct flights from Zurich-Kloten. What is new, for example, is that Swiss will offer three weekly routes to Seoul from May 7, 2024. In addition, Korean Airlines also offers its services seasonally.

Homebase carrier Swiss is expanding its offering towards North America. From March 28, 2024, the course will be set for Washington and Toronto will follow on May 10, 2024. The last destination mentioned will be offered five times a week in the 2024 summer flight schedule. The Lufthansa subsidiary flies to the capital of the United States of America every day during the warm season and five rotations per week are planned for the 2024/25 winter flight schedule. Competitor Delta Air Lines will reactivate the Atlanta connection. Edelweiss, for its part, is now flying daily to Vancouver over the summer months and is also serving the routes Calgary, Tampa and Denver even more frequently than before.

The aviation company Tunisair will be present in Zurich-Kloten again after a three-year absence. There will be two weekly flights to Tunis and one to Djerba. The carrier emphasizes that tourist demand is expected to be particularly high and is therefore expected to be well received by the market in the Zurich Airport catchment area. Edelweiss, for its part, is expanding the frequency to Muscat and Phuket and extending its seasonal connection to Bogotà and Cartagena in Colombia from winter into summer.

There are also increases in the direction of China. The airport admits in a press release that the offer is still below what it had before the corona pandemic. Swiss is increasing frequencies on the Shanghai route and will once again connect the Chinese metropolis with Zurich-Klot on a daily basis. Competitor Cathay Pacific has announced that it will once again set course for the Swiss economic metropolis four times a week from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

In the summer of 2024, the Mediterranean region and Northern Europe will be a particular focus. Edelweiss has announced that it will be visiting destinations in the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and the Spanish mainland more frequently. Swiss is adding more destinations to Alicante and Madrid. Easyjet will begin a non-stop connection to Alicante at the end of March 2024, which will be served twice a week.

Greece remains popular: Edelweiss flies to Heraklion on Crete up to 17 times a week. That's five frequencies more than before. There are also more connections to the destinations of Chania, Corfu and Zakynthos. There are now daily flights to Kos and Rhodes. Aegean Airlines is also expanding its service to Athens to include up to 11 weekly connections.

The offer to Northern Europe is also being expanded. Scandinavian Airlines flies to Oslo up to three times a day in summer and Edelweiss flies for the first time with a weekly scheduled flight to the Norwegian Lofoten Islands, to Evenes, and increases its frequency to Tromsø from two to three flights per week. Edelweiss is also expanding its offerings to Edinburgh in Scotland, Newquay in Cornwall and Keflavik in Iceland.

Swiss serves London's third airport with seven weekly flights to London-Gatwick. Eurowings, for its part, is adding up to eleven flights per week to the Berlin-Zurich route, while Easyjet is increasing its offer to Berlin to up to eight weekly flights. The Italian airline ITA Airways is increasing the frequency on the Rome-Zurich route to two daily flights.

For the first time, Swiss is including Košice in Slovakia in its summer flight schedule and will connect Zurich all year round with three flights per week. Cluj-Napoca in Romania will also be served by Swiss for the first time - also three times a week and all year round.
