In 2021, exactly 299.846 passengers flew over around 3.700 flight movements over Salzburg Airport. Before the CoV pandemic, there were around 1,8 million passengers. Compared to 2020, the number of passengers has decreased by more than 55 percent.
After the total failure of the all-important winter season, the airport could only start again in mid-June. Numerous destinations were offered over the summer. According to the airport, the demand was good. Nevertheless: the usual frequencies were missing. “The constantly changing entry regulations made travel planning very difficult or even impossible in the past financial year. Nevertheless, there were also bright spots such as the introduction of the new flight connection to Dubai, the summer connection to Amsterdam and the fact that our best airline customers have remained loyal to us, ”says airport manager Bettina Ganghofer.
