A new exhibition at Basel-Mulhouse Airport aims to sensitize passengers to the topic of sustainable travel. This was designed by students from the “Macromedia University” (Freiburg) and the “FHNW University of Art and Design” (Basel).
Under the motto "Memories of the Future" an extensive exhibition of creative memories of vacations, distant cultures and natural spectacles can be seen. The large-scale images and installations are installed at various locations in the departure and arrival areas and are intended to raise the general public and passengers' sense of responsibility for their own CO2 emissions and to encourage them to offset flights.
“An artistic examination of climate change conveys a completely different, emotional approach. It can motivate people to take responsibility for their own contribution,” says Stephen Neff, CEO of Myclimate. “It is courageous that EuroAirport is providing prominent areas for this. And it is logical that the artworks were designed by young people who will have to deal heavily with climate change in their lives".
The art project "Memories of the Future" is in line with the holistic approach to sustainable development and the airport's environmental policy, which also focuses on reducing CO2 emissions.
