The South Tyrolean airline Skyalps has taken out a loan of 25 million euros. This will be used to purchase additional de Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft.

Just a few days ago, a former Flybe aircraft that joined the Skyalps fleet arrived in Bolzano. But this is just the start of the planned expansion, because with the help of the financing that was secured, eight more de Havilland Dash 8-400s are to be purchased. However, the aviation company based in Bolzano has not yet announced where these will be used.

The said loan of 25 million euros was granted by Milan-based Banco BPM. Skyalps boss Josef Gostner describes the approval as a great success because the credit institution has great confidence in the regional airline's strategy.

“Demand is growing, and with it Skyalps. Thanks to the new aircraft that will be added to our fleet, we will be able to further expand the network of connections and offer our passengers even more services,” says Gostner, who, however, does not yet name any destinations and/or clients for possible wet lease services.

The Skyalps fleet has now grown rapidly. They originally started with two Dash 8-400s, which were initially operated by Luxwing. We now have six machines and five more are expected to be added soon. But that won't be the end of the growth, because the necessary financial resources have already been set up for even more de Havilland Dash 8-400.
