In the future, Frankfurt am Main Airport intends to carry out the security checks on its passengers itself. So far, the Federal Police has commissioned a third-party provider for this. A Fraport subsidiary has now been officially commissioned with the organization.
It will take some time until everything is actually in Fraport hands, because the final implementation will not take place until 2023. The Federal Police and Fraport announced on Tuesday that the tasks had already been handed over. However, the police officers will remain on site and set all requirements.
From 2023 Fraport can also determine the type of control devices itself. The result is that the control fees that airlines have to pay for their passengers are no longer determined by the federal police, but by Fraport. The aim of the whole campaign is: The airport operator wants to reduce costs by carrying out the Siko on its own and increase the speed of the controls.
