The low-cost airline Easyjet and the regional airline Skyexpress are now working together as part of the "Worldwide by Easyjet" program. The cooperation primarily concerns connecting flights to Greek islands.
The orange low-cost company has also been marketing flights from other airlines for a number of years. These are usually combined with Easyjet connections, resulting in connections. Conversely, low-cost airline flights can also act as feeders for long-haul routes. However, it is neither an interlining nor a codeshare cooperation.
Easyjet uses Dohop technology. This connects low-cost flights with those of participating partners. Furthermore, there is a connection guarantee, so that in the event of delays, the costs for a new onward flight are covered. However, not all Easyjet partners allow luggage to be checked through. For some, this has to be picked up at the baggage carousel when changing and then handed in again at the respective counter.
The cooperation with Skyexpress should mean that Easyjet can offer more destinations in Greece. Conversely, passengers of the regional airline can benefit from other options. Transfer points are primarily the airports of Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Zakynthos, Preveza, Kefalonia, Rhodes, Larnaka, Chania and Heraklion.
From there, Skyexpress operates connecting flights to Mytilene, Paros, Ikaria, Astypalaia, Naxos, Vathi, Scio, Lemnos, Karpathos, Kythera, Milos, Alexandroupoli, Kastoria, Skiros, Kozani, Kasos, Sitia, Syros, Kalymnos and Laros, among others offered.
“We would like to thank Easyjet for the cooperation. We continue our efforts for continuous growth and this gives us the opportunity to enter into further new collaborations with important companies in our field. This collaboration is strategic for us because its main goal is to offer our passengers more choices, but also to strengthen our country's potential as a dynamic travel destination," said Yiannis Lidakis Commercial Director at Skyexpress.
