The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings sees itself well prepared for the imminent peak travel season, especially the "Mallorca boom". There are now 4.700 employees, more than ever before.

The number of employees would have been increased by 1.500 since the restart of aviation during the corona pandemic. Most of the new employees started with the flight operations Eurowings Europe and Eurowings Germany. Many specialists would also have found work at the IT subsidiary Eurowings Digital GmbH.

The low-cost division of the Lufthansa Group expects to carry up to 100.000 passengers on peak days during midsummer. A significant proportion of these will fly to/from Palma de Mallorca. This destination is more booked than ever, especially from the Federal Republic of Germany.

This circumstance also means that the parent company, Lufthansa, will occasionally use wide-bodied jets from Frankfurt and Munich. If possible, Eurowings will send the Airbus A321 aircraft on high-demand routes between Germany and the Balearic Islands. Also in the direction of Crete, Rhodes and other Mediterranean destinations you want to fly selectively with this type of machine.

Eurowings is currently assuming that by the end of this year the number of employees will have increased to around 5.000. Flight attendants, pilots, IT experts and technicians are particularly popular. Special applicant days are held in Prague, Wroclaw, Kraków, Warsaw, Split and Bucharest, among others.

Kai Duve, Managing Director Finance and Human Resources at Eurowings: “We are delighted and confident to see how quickly the travel industry is emerging from its longest and most difficult crisis. With the recruitment of more than 1.500 new employees, Eurowings has made all the preparations in terms of personnel to enable passengers to start the summer holidays as smoothly as possible. We have already proven this during the first holiday peaks of the year at Easter and Pentecost. We are confident that our airport partners have also made good preparations for this summer so that together we can give our guests a good start to their holidays.”
