Leipzig: SunExpress increases Antalya

The Turkish leisure airline SunExpress is reacting to the fact that its competitor, Corendon Airlines, is cutting back on offers from many German airports. Traffic between the Federal Republic and Turkey is also affected - actually Corendon's traditional core business.

SunExpress is initially expanding the range of flights from/to Antalya from Leipzig/Halle Airport. The joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines currently offers up to 13 weekly rotations between the two cities. In two steps, the offer is increased to 18 rotations per week.

First, effective September 13, 2022, the weekly flights will be increased by two rotations to 15 rotations. The second increase is announced for September 25, 2022 and brings three more circulations. The increased service is justified by the carrier with a particularly high demand. For the time being, it is planned that up to and including October 21, 2022, up to 18 weekly rotations will be carried out between Leipzig/Halle and Antalya. An extension is conceivable if the number of bookings continues to be high.

Direct competitor Corendon Airlines and its Maltese subsidiary Corendon Europe recently the cut pencil in the Germany flight plan. Massive cuts have been made from almost all airports that are served in Germany. Many routes, especially in Germany-Turkey traffic, will be discontinued prematurely. Flights are also combined on some holiday routes. A current trip report about Corendon can be found at this link.
