Lufthansa may soon be able to fleet the Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. These are said to be machines that were actually intended for Qatar Airways or Aeroflot. Corresponding negotiations with the aircraft manufacturer are said to be ongoing.

Airbus is not allowed to serve the orders of the Russian state airline due to the sanctions imposed in response to the military incursion against Ukraine. There is a legal dispute with Qatar Airways and three Airbus A350-1000s have already not been accepted.

The European aircraft manufacturer is now looking for alternative customers, with the German portal Aero.de reporting, citing people familiar with the matter, that Airbus and Lufthansa should negotiate with each other. Accordingly, the crane group should be interested in the incorporation of Airbus A350-1000. So far, the smaller variant A350-900 has been in the fleet.

Lufthansa did not want to comment officially on the media report. However, the airline has a problem, because the delivery of the ordered Boeing 777-9 will be delayed until at least 2025 according to the current information. However, the Kranich group needs the capacity sooner, so the A350-1000s available at short notice would be an acceptable solution, provided that there is agreement on the price.
