The Ryanair subsidiary Malta Air will station two Boeing 2022-737s at Nuremberg Airport in the summer flight schedule of 800. At the same time, 13 new routes are to be added from the Bavarian airport.

Nuremberg airport manager Michael Hupe describes the decision of the low-cost group as a "milestone on the way to returning to our successful course". The Ryanair Group is currently planning to offer a total of 27 destinations from Nuremberg. Most of the operational implementation is carried out by Malta Air. Airbus A320s from the sister company Lauda Europe are also used from Palma de Mallorca and Zadar. The Budapest route is served by the Polish Buzz.

“The opening of our new base in Nuremberg generates 13 new flight connections - a total of 27 - and ensures better connections that promote tourism and growth in the region and help it recover from the pandemic. This $ 200 million investment will not only boost the economy by promoting tourism, but also create more than 60 direct jobs and nearly 1.000 jobs in the area. Efficient operations and competitive airport charges form the basis on which Ryanair can achieve long-term traffic growth and better connectivity. We have worked closely with our partners at Nuremberg Airport to ensure this growth and improve services for those who live, work or want to visit the region, ”explains Ryanair DAC Managing Director Eddie Wilson.
