The flight operations of the insolvent cargo airline Cargologic Germany are finally discontinued. Insolvency administrator Lucas Flöther could not find an investor. Apparently, the legal situation is too unclear for potential buyers due to the sanctions against Russia.
According to a statement from the insolvency administration, the employees should receive the notices of termination in the course of this week. The liquidation of the company will then also be initiated.
The Federal Aviation Authority issued CLG in March of this year a temporary flight ban. The background was the ownership constellation, because the British holding company belongs, among other things, to a Russian who is named on the sanctions list of the European Union. In May 2022, Cargologic Germany had to file for bankruptcy and Lucas Flöther, who recently founded a Klage against former Air Berlin boss Thomas Winkelmann, was appointed provisional insolvency administrator.
The lawyer explained to the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung that there were initially a few interested parties, but that they then backed down despite the fact that the Federal Ministry of Transport had removed the bankrupt company from the sanctions list. The legal situation surrounding the sanctions against Russia would have been too complex for interested parties. Money for the continuation of Cargologic Germany should no longer be available.
