In the first half of the Bavarian summer holidays, Nuremberg Airport was used by 710.000 passengers. This has already exceeded the previous year's volume, because in the same period of 2022 there were 706.000 travelers.

Airport director Michael Hupe believes that the growth achieved this year is also due to the expanded summer flight schedule. 62 destinations are currently served by 28 airlines. "The great demand is a confirmation of our efforts to offer the widest possible range," says Managing Director Michael Hupe, who has already announced a varied winter flight schedule.

In the first three weeks of the summer holidays, 373.840 passengers flew to and from Nuremberg, over 9.000 more than in the same period last year. The busiest day so far was August 15, 2023 with 17.626 passengers. At an average of around 90 percent, the utilization of the aircraft is higher than last year. The most popular flight destination remains the Turkish bathing paradise of Antalya, which is served by seven airlines and has around 130.000 passengers alone. Mallorca is also in high demand with almost 85.000 passengers. Istanbul and Frankfurt follow in the ranking as international hubs, as well as Heraklion on Crete.

Destinations in Turkey, the Canary Islands and Egypt are the focus of this year's 2023 winter timetable. Etihad Holidays charter flights, operated by Smartwings, are new to Abu Dhabi. The providers Condor and Eurowings intend to expand their offers from Nuremberg. The latter carrier will now fly to Marsa Alam, among other destinations.
