The Antonov An-225 Mriya was the largest cargo plane in the world and was considered a national pride of Ukraine. In recent days there have been repeated conflicting reports that the plane may or may not have been destroyed by a Russian attack. Unfortunately, the plane is a total loss.

In the meantime, not only the authorities of Ukraine, but also operator Antonov Airlines have confirmed that the An-225 was destroyed ready for scrap. Current recordings from a TV station show the enormous extent of the damage to the "Mrija".

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, has already announced that a new An-225 will be built. Whether the project will actually be implemented cannot be estimated at the moment. In any case, the "Mrija" was a one-off, because the sister model was never finally completed and put into the air.
