Compared to May 2020, the number of passengers tripled, but it is still more than 95 percent below the previous year's figure.

The Berlin airports Schönefeld and Tegel were able to record significantly more passengers again in June 2020. A total of 167.891 travelers were counted at both airports. In direct comparison with May 2020, this is almost tripled. Compared to the same month last year, however, they are still well behind: They only had 5,1 percent of the passengers that were counted in June 2019.

With 134.598 passengers, the lion's share used Berlin-Tegel Airport. In direct comparison with June 2019, this corresponds to a decrease of 94 percent. Schönefeld counted 33.293 travelers and is 96,7 percent below the previous year's figure.

“In June, many airlines slowly resumed their connections, especially within Europe. This trend intensified significantly in July, so that it has now reached 20 percent of the previous year's level again. This is an important step towards a new normal. In the next few weeks it is particularly important that everyone consistently adheres to the comprehensive hygiene and precautionary measures. We guarantee safe flight operations on the ground and want to continue to create confidence in safe travel, ”said Berlin Airport Director Engelbert Lütke Daldrup.
