More than 60 security guards at Düsseldorf Airport today took an “active lunch break” to draw attention to the shortage of staff at hand luggage control.

The queues in the terminal and in the security area are getting longer and longer. The reason for this is a staff shortage at the security service provider DSW. He had previously released over 100 workers due to illness - these are now missing everywhere. The Verdi union complains that the control forces are completely overloaded. For them, the problem is homemade. The employer denies this fact, and the company refers to the fact that the workforce is still on a high level of sick leave. During the autumn break, the workforce is to be motivated to work overtime with high bonuses. In addition, inspectors from Bremen should help out in DUS, as reported by wdr.de.
