SAS AB, the parent company of the airline of the same name, has filed an application to reorganize the group with the responsible court in Stockholm. According to official information, the operating airlines are not affected.

This action follows a Chapter 11 filing in the US some time ago. According to SAS, the proceedings in the United States can only be completed if the Swedish reorganization is completed. This would be a mandatory requirement for the US court to approve the restructuring plan.

The group assumes that it will be possible to exit the Swedish procedure again during the first half of 2024. Once all renovation procedures have been completed, there will also be a change of ownership. A consortium including Air France-KLM was awarded the contract.

This also has an impact on the future strategic direction, because the Star Alliance founding member SAS will leave the previous alliance and join Skyteam change to Air France, KLM and Delta Air Lines. In preparation for this has already been done the bilateral codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines was terminated. It is to be expected that similar collaborations with other Star Alliance members will also be ended soon.
