The Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is back in Salzburg. According to the airport, there were around 50 passengers on the “comeback flight”. The route paused for around a year due to the corona pandemic. The Turkish airline returned from Istanbul on Thursday.
“The effects of this pandemic, which almost brought travel to a standstill, are unpredictable for air traffic, with the industry struggling with new regulations and restrictions on a daily basis. Turkish Airlines' first landing in Salzburg today is a good sign. Last but not least, we are again connected to the major Istanbul hub with its worldwide destinations, ”says a delighted Airport Authorized Officer Christopher Losmann, Head of Aviation & Sales.
According to Salzburg Airport, it is currently mainly business travelers who use the Istanbul route. Nevertheless, there should be hope that the entry and quarantine regulations will be relaxed on both sides in the summer of 2021 so that tourists can also benefit from the Turkish Airlines route.
