In the first half of the year, Zurich Airport benefited from the increase in travel after the corona pandemic had subsided.

In the first half of the year, sales rose by 73 percent year-on-year to CHF 458 million, according to Zurich Airport. A good 2019 percent of the income was still missing from the pre-crisis level of the first half of 20. Operating profit at EBITDA level more than doubled to CHF 238 million compared to the previous year. The bottom line was a net profit of 55 million francs after a deficit of 45 million in the same period last year. In the first half of 2019, a profit of CHF 143 million was booked.

With the end of the travel restrictions, the passengers also came back. From January to June, 9.1 million passengers traveled through Zurich Airport again. That is more than four times as much as in the previous year and already more than 60 percent of the pre-crisis level of the first half of 2019. For the current year, the airport operator is still planning to double the passenger volume to 20 million passengers. This means that two thirds of the volume of 2019 would have been reached again.
